Love Your Heart

The human heart.

A wonderful muscular organ that pumps blood through the circulatory system and sends the body oxygen, nutrients, and life.

As amazing as the heart is, there are people out there that take this organ for granted. Without proper care for the heart, how can one truly live?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women. More than half of the deaths due to heart disease were in men and about 630,000 Americans die from heart disease each year—that’s 1 in every 4 deaths!!! In the United States, someone has a heart attack every 40 seconds and more than one person in the United States dies from a heart disease-related event EVERY … SINGLE … MINUTE!

In Clark County, 1 out of 10 people will succumb to heart disease related deaths. ONE OUT OF 10 PEOPLE! That one person could be a friend, a family member, or YOU!

Fortunately, you do not have to be a statistic. With the right steps in prevention, you and your heart will come out triumphant. All you have to do are the following steps:

1.       Control your blood pressure

2.       Keep your cholesterol in check

3.       Eat a healthy diet

4.       Get proper exercise

5.       Limit your alcohol consumption

6.       Don’t smoke

7.       Manage stress

8.       Control your diabetes

9.       Get proper bed rest

If you are able to follow these steps, your heart will thank you for it!!!
